Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met Sergey Kogogin, director general of KAMAZ FTC Corp., a truck manufacturer based in Tatarstan (Russia), the Turkmen government said in a message.
The businessman confirmed the high interest of the company headed by him in further strengthening and expanding mutually beneficial business contacts with Turkmen partners.
The sides discussed prospects for cooperation.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that particularly high requirements for safety, reliability and compliance with environmental standards are imposed on transport, including road transport.
An exchange of views took place on a number of topical trends in the development of the global automotive industry, including production of electric vehicles, widespread use of plastic materials, various polymer products in the automotive industry and synthetic fuels in road transport.
As it was noted in this regard, new gas processing complexes are being prepared for the launch in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan – the ones for the production of polypropylene and polyethylene, for the production of gasoline from natural gas that meets the Euro 5 standard.
All this opens up wide opportunities for building up fruitful cooperation between industrial companies, as well as for joint scientific and technological developments between the educational institutions of the two countries, the message said.
In January, it was reported that the first cargo of 250 vehicles ordered in Tatarstan by the Ministry of Road Transport of Turkmenistan, arrived in the Turkmenbashi International Seaport in Turkmenistan.
The agreement on supplies was signed in September 2017 during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkmenistan. The contract envisages supplies of KAMAZ-6520 vehicles with load capacity of 20 tons.
“Turkmenistan is one of the biggest and stable markets for the sale of products of the leader of the Russian cargo machinery industry,” the KAMAZ website reported. “Over the past ten years, Turkmenistan has received more than 9,000 trucks and special machinery of KAMAZ, and the company continues to promote the development of the country’s fleet of vehicles.”
KAMAZ has its dealer network in Turkmenistan, which is represented in the cities of Ashgabat, Balkanabat, Mary and Turkmenabat.
