BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. The production at the South Azadegan oil field (Majnoon in Iraq), a joint oil field of Iran and Iraq, increased by 2,000 barrels per day last week, Executive Director of Iran's Arvandan Oil and Gas Production Company Abdollah Ozari Ahvazi said in a meeting with the company's officials, Trend reports.
According to him, this growth was achieved due to several technical operations carried out by the company's specialists.
Ozari Ahvazi noted that the increase in crude oil production is considered an important step towards the realization of the plans of the Ministry of Oil and the National Oil Company to increase production.
Meanwhile, the production of crude oil from the South Azadegan field previously totaled 170,000 barrels per day.
To note, the South Azadegan oil field contains 28.2 billion barrels of crude oil, of which 1.6 billion barrels are reportedly possible to extract. The plans on the development of this field, the first plan envisages daily production of 320,000 barrels of crude oil and 197 million cubic feet (about 7 million cubic meters) of natural gas from the field, while the second plan foresees daily production of 280,000 barrels of crude oil.
