Iran is going to negotiate a hire purchase (HP) deal of some modern trains from the German Siemens, said Islamic Republic Railways CEO Mohsen Pourseyyed Aghaei.
He said Iran and Germany recently signed a memorandum of understanding on rail transport which consisted of electrifying the Tehran-Tabriz railroad, the Tehran and Tabriz suburban railways, as well as the lease purchase of high-speed trains, ISNA news agency reported November 14.
He explained that the talks pursue the lease purchase of trains for a 30-year period.
“Siemens has said it is ready to make the deal. A joint committee is to be launched in the German ministry of economy to investigate the banking situation for leasing deals between Iran and Germany and find a practical way to carry out the deal.”
