BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. Iran's non-oil imports totaled 1.8 million tons valued at $2.85 billion in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025).
The data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration shows that during this period, the value grew by 2.3 percent, while the volume decreased by 26.4 percent compared to the same period of last year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024).
In the reporting month, Iran imported mainly $583 million worth of unprocessed gold, $175 million worth of corn feed, $91 million worth of rice, $75 million worth of pressed soybeans, and $66 million worth of soybean seeds.
Besides, over this period, Iran imported mainly $859 million worth of products from the UAE, $768 million from China, $538 million from Türkiye, $87 million from Germany, $75 million from the Netherlands, $69 million from India, and $43 million from Pakistan. The seven countries accounted for 85 percent of Iran's total product imports in terms of value and 83 percent in terms of weight.
In the first month, Iran's non-oil trade turnover amounted to 10.7 million tons worth approximately $5.8 billion. Non-oil trade turnover decreased by three percent in value and 12 percent in weight compared to the same month last year.
Iran mainly focuses on importing essential products that the country needs and imposes certain restrictions on the import of similar products produced in the country.
