Representatives of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Office have inspected the situation in prisons.
Members of the Ombudsman's National Preventive Mechanism Group visited sentence serving institutions No.2, No.6 and No.15 of the Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Service on the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova's instruction in order to inspect the situation in prisons. They met with prisoners, inspected their detention conditions and informed them about their rights, the Ombudsman Office said.
Detainees didn't complain about detention conditions and the institution's employees and and leadership's treatment with them. No violation was revealed.
Construction of a new place for those coming to visit prisoners in the sentence serving institution No.15 was highly appreciated.
The inspection found that repair was conducted to improve detention conditions in the institution No.15, and repair work is underway in the institution No.2.
The correctional facilities' leaderships were given recommendations to further improve detention conditions.
