The U.S. embassy in Baku told Trend that a new Primary Healthcare Training and Demonstration Center supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will open its doors in Ganja on Tuesday, 12 September, 2006.
The Center is expected to play an important role in advancing the development of family and community-centered primary care. It was established through the efforts of a USAID-supported partnership program implemented by the American International Health Alliance (AIHA) linking the Ganja City Health Administration with the Alameda County Public Health Department and ValleyCare Health System in Livermore, California.
Part of a larger Healthcare Partnerships Project in the Caucasus Region, the Ganja/Livermore partnership was created in 2004 to develop a model community-oriented primary care and family medicine program in Ganja.
