11th Conference of Turkic-Speaking Countries to be Held in Azerbaijan in 2008

Nazim Ibrahimov, Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad, told Trend exclusively that the next 11th Conference of the Turkic- Speaking Countries will be held in Azerbaijan in 2008.

At present the Turkish region of Antalia is hosting the 10th Conference of Friendship, Fraternity & Co-operation of Turkic-speaking Countries.

Ibrahimov, who was part of the Azerbaijani delegation, spoke about the work and the significance of the event. He noted that the 10th conference organized in Turkey can be marked as a notable event in the Turkic world. The participation of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the conference and his dynamic speech demonstrates Azerbaijan's attention to the unification of the Turkic world and Turkism. The organization of the next Forum in Baku testifies the significance of co-operation and integration with the Turkic-speaking countries, Ibrahimov stated.

The conference began in Turkey on 18 September to which the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Turkish Prime Minister Rejep Tayyub Erdogan both participated. The Forum will conclude on 20 September.
