BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 10. Kazakhstan’s national oil company KazMunayGas (KMG) has posted a 6.4-percent year-on-year increase in oil transit volumes for the first nine months of 2024, with a total of 63.197 million tons transported through both pipelines and maritime routes, Trend reports.
The largest share of KMG’s oil transit was handled by KazTransOil, a major subsidiary, which recorded 33.653 million tons - up by 3.8 percent from the previous year.
Kazakhstan-China Pipeline, a joint venture pipeline, contributed 11.136 million tons, marking a slight 0.4 percent increase from the same period of 2023. This pipeline remains critical in supporting Kazakhstan’s oil exports to the Asia-Pacific region, particularly China, where demand has remained consistent.
MunaiTas, another key operator, reported a 2.6 percent rise, with 4.235 million tons transported. The pipeline plays an important role in connecting oil fields in western Kazakhstan to export terminals and refineries, supporting the overall transit network’s resilience.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), a joint venture involving international energy stakeholders, remains the largest channel for Kazakh oil, handling 48.479 million tons, a 2.5-percent increase from last year. The CPC pipeline system is pivotal for transporting oil from Kazakhstan’s Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan fields to the Black Sea, offering a direct route to European markets.
