BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 26. The State Border Service reports that last month, 172,600 foreign nationals and stateless individuals from 152 countries arrived in Azerbaijan, marking a 4.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee reveals that the majority of arrivals came from Russia, Türkiye, and India. Among these arrivals, 24 percent were from the Russian Federation, 18.3 percent from Türkiye, 9.9 percent from India, 8.7 percent from Iran, 5 percent from Georgia, 3.6 percent from Saudi Arabia, 3.2 percent from both the UAE and Kazakhstan, 3.1 percent from Pakistan, 2.2 percent from Kuwait, 1.7 percent from both Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, 1.5 percent from China, 1.4 percent from Ukraine, 1.2 percent from Israel, 1.1 percent from Oman, and 10.2 percent from other countries. Of these arrivals, 71.9 percent were male, and 28.1 percent were female.

Notably, the number of arrivals from Israel surged by 3.9 times, from China by 2.2 times, from Tajikistan by 2.1 times, from Spain by 1.9 times, and from India, Jordan, and Egypt by 1.7 times. Additionally, arrivals from the Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the United States, Yemen, the UAE, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, France, and Italy also saw substantial increases compared to last year.

Compared to January 2024, arrivals from EU member countries increased by 7.3 percent, arrivals from the Gulf countries decreased by 5.4 percent, and arrivals from CIS countries decreased by 4.8 percent. Conversely, arrivals from other countries increased by 17.3 percent.

Regarding transportation, 71.5 percent of foreign visitors arrived by air, 26.4 percent by rail and road, and 2.1 percent by sea.

In addition, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increased by 4.3 percent to 154,100 individuals. Travel to Iran rose by 36.5 percent, to Georgia by 15.1 percent, and to Türkiye by 2.9 percent, while travel to Russia declined by 27.3 percent. The majority of Azerbaijani travelers (36.1 percent) headed to Türkiye, followed by 15.4 percent traveling to Russia, 11.7 percent to Georgia, and 10.7 percent to Iran.

In terms of transport, 67.7 percent of Azerbaijani travelers used air transport, 29.8 percent used rail and road transport, and 2.5 percent used sea transport.
