ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 31. The credit portfolio of Kazakhstan's banking sector reached 36.1 trillion tenge ($72.2 billion) as of March 1, 2025, which is 0.3 percent higher compared to the beginning of the year, according to the Eurasian Development Bank, Trend reports.
"Also, in Kazakhstan, business loans decreased by 2.3 percent compared to the end of 2024, while consumer lending increased by 2.2 percent. The main factor limiting the growth of the credit portfolio is the tightening of monetary and credit conditions at the end of 2024," the report states.
As mentioned by the Eurasian Development Bank, despite this, the growth of consumer lending is supported by the active digitalization of banking products. In particular, significant attention is being paid to the development of online platforms and mobile applications that allow consumers to apply for unsecured consumer loans and installment plans.
