ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 9. In the fourth quarter of 2024, the average monthly nominal wage in Kazakhstan amounted to 434,982 tenge (approximately $827.47), which is 10.5 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year.
Data obtained by Trend from the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS shows that the growth compared to the previous quarter amounted to 11.4 percent, indicating a significant positive dynamics of personal income.
However, in the context of inflation, a key indicator of citizens' well-being remains the real wage, which takes consumer price growth into account. In this respect, Kazakhstan also shows positive results. The real wage in Q4 2024 increased by 1.8 percent compared to the same period in 2023, and by 8.9 percent compared to the previous quarter.
This indicates that income growth is not only nominal but is
also being genuinely felt by the population.
Moreover, such a trend may be attributed to several factors: the
recovery of economic activity following external economic shocks,
rising prices for raw materials, as well as government measures to
raise the minimum wage and support businesses.
For comparison, among CIS countries, the highest real wage growth rates were recorded in Tajikistan (121.6 percent) and Kyrgyzstan (110.8 percent) compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Russia experienced a significant decline in real wages, just 68.3 percent of the previous year’s level.
Thus, the CIS Statistical Committee data confirms that Kazakhstan maintains a strong position in the region in terms of wage levels and dynamics, with government efforts focused on ensuring sustainable growth in citizens’ well-being.
