Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 June / Trend corr. U.Ismayilova / The prices of construction materials have increased by 6.1% in May compared to April, the consulting company MBA group reported.
The domestic manufactured construction materials made up 41.4% in May.
The organization held a monitoring over 105 varieties and 48 types of construction materials, and an increase was observed in prices for 54 types, but decrease in 14 types and stability in 37 types was also observed
The growth was mainly observed in the run-of-quarry stone (22%), concrete (21.9%), road metal (5.9%), wood (3.5%), particle board (2.8%), channel (1.7%), iron sheets (12.5%), zinc sheets (6.4%) and others.
Decrease in prices was observed for sand (2.2%), nail (2.2 %) and tubes (8.8%).
According to the monitoring results, price increases for the construction materials is caused by the increase in price of energy resources in the world markets. Increase in price of wood is due to season variations.
Price increase for construction materials affected the market activity, which is reduced by 12.3% compared to the mentioned period in 2007. At present, the key factor that affects the market activity is the increase in portfolio of inhabited commercial premises.
