Seven commercial banks of Uzbekistan joined the list of 200 largest banks in the CIS (from 1,300 in terms of assets), according to the published list prepared by the rating agency "RIA Rating" (Russia).
In particular, the largest bank in Uzbekistan, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs (25.7 percent in the total assets of the banking system of the republic) held the 55th place in the ranking, showing an increase of 7.3 percent which amounted to $ 5.1 billion.
Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank (15.4 percent) took the 89th position, ensuring the growth of assets by 21.9 percent - up to $ 3.1 billion (as of 1 January 2014).
Asaka Bank (10.3 percent) in 2013 reduced its assets by 3.2 percent - up to $ 2.06 billion and is rated 118th.
Mortgage Banking (6.7 percent) in the list of the 200 largest banks in the CIS held the 155th place with assets of $ 1.3 billion (a 13.4 percent increase compared to 2012), People's Bank (6.2 percent) held the 166th place with assets of $ 1.23 billion (an increase of 15.8 percent).
Agrobank (5.7 percent of assets in the banking system) ranked 172nd in the list with assets of $1.15 billion, which grew by 15.8 percent in 2013, and Qishloq Qurilish Bank (the Bank of Agriculture construction, 5.5 percent) ranked 177th in assets of $ 1.1 billion at the end of 2013 (a 15.9 percent decrease).
The data for the ranking on the results in 2013 were taken from open sources - public financial statements of banks, as well as statistical bulletins and other publications of the central banks of the CIS countries.
There are 27 commercial banks in Uzbekistan, including three state ones, four banks with the participation of foreign capital, 11 joint stock banks and nine private ones. The banks in Uzbekistan presented in the "RIA Rating" have 75.5 percent of the assets of the banking system of the republic.
According to the country's central bank, the total assets of commercial banks in 2013 increased by 30.3 percent and reached 43.9 trillion soums.
