TEHRAN, Iran, October 24. Iran’s mining sector is facing challenges due to old mining machinery and obstacles to importing new machinery, said mining sector analyst Nadali Esmaili, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"Old machinery are being costly for miners in terms of fuel supply and providing spare parts," he said, adding that development of the mining sector is the priority and there should be a solution to allow the import of machinery from good foreign brands.
He noted that it is necessary to lift the import ban on mining machinery that is not produced domestically, to support production and generate revenues in this sector.
He pointed out that low-quality Chinese machinery is being illegally imported by some individuals, while the miners are looking to import second-hand machinery made by famous brands, rather than Chinese ones.
According to the expert, old mining machinery delay the process of production.
