Kazakhstan, Astana / corr Trend K.Konirova / The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project is viable, Adrian van der Meer, the representative of the European Union in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan said at a meeting with Sauat Minbayev, the Kazakh Energy and Mineral Recourses Minister on 13 September.
"In the context of it strategy on diversification of corridors for transportation of energy recourses the European Union held a special investigation into the economical viability of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. According to results of the analysis, gas transportation via this system is more economical than via Central Asia," he said.
In his turn, the Kazakh minister said that while selecting export routes, preference is given to the economic interests of Kazakhstan, rather than political aspects. Furthermore, Minbayev spoke about the status and perspective of export policies of the country. Kazakhstan always follows policy on diversification of energy corridors.
The head of the European Commission offered to create the Centre for Transfer of Technology for Development and Extraction of Energy Resources.
