BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. The total number of hotel accommodations in Azerbaijan amounted to 4.28 million in 2024, up 25.1 percent year on year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that Baku took the lion's share with 60.9 percent of the overnight stays, while Khachmaz followed with 4.6 percent. Naftalan and Gusar were close behind at 4.5 percent each. Gabala accounted for 4.2 percent, Guba had 4 percent, and Shabran contributed 3.6 percent. Lankaran made up 2.5 percent, Shamakhi had 1.2 percent, and Masalli represented 1.1 percent. Gakh and Nakhchivan each brought in one percent, while hotels in other cities and districts of Azerbaijan rounded it out with 6.9 percent.
The total number of overnight hotel stays in Azerbaijan by foreigners and stateless people last year climbed by 26 percent compared to 2023, totaling 2.3 million, which is 54.8 percent of all hotel stays in the country.
Among the total overnight stays by foreigners, citizens of India accounted for 19.6 percent, followed by Russia at 13.1 percent, Saudi Arabia at 7.8 percent, Türkiye at 7.3 percent, and the UAE at 5.9 percent. The US contributed 3.8 percent, while Kazakhstan and Kuwait each represented 2.8 percent. Pakistan made up 2.6 percent, the UK and Israel both stood at 2.4 percent, Uzbekistan at 2.2 percent, and China at 2.1 percent. Germany had 1.4 percent, with Italy and Georgia each at one percent, and the remaining 21.8 percent came from other countries.
In the meantime, a whopping 81.4 percent of overnight hotel stays by foreigners and stateless individuals were logged in Baku, while Gusar accounted for 4.6 percent, Gabala for 4.4 percent, Naftalan for 3.9 percent, Guba for 3.2 percent, Shabran for 0.6 percent, and the remaining 1.9 percent spread across other cities and districts of Azerbaijan.
The local citizens in Azerbaijan saw a rise in hotel accommodations by 24.2 percent, surpassing 1.9 million, which accounts for 45.2 percent of all overnight stays.
