Kazakhstan aims to wrap up over 100 investment tourism projects in 2024

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 6. Kazakhstan plans to complete 148 investment projects totaling 246 billion tenge (about $548 million) in the tourism sector in 2024, said the Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Nurtas Karipbayev, Trend reports.

"At the end of last year, 117 new tourist sites worth 57 billion tenge (about $127 million) were opened in Kazakhstan. There are 297 investment projects at the implementation stage for a total of 433 billion tenge (about $965 million). With their 100 percent implementation, it is planned to create 7,647 jobs, with 3,219 permanent jobs, 4,428 temporary jobs. By the end of 2024, it is planned to complete 148 projects totaling 246 billion tenge. These projects will create 2,457 jobs," he said.

According to him, tax revenues to the budget from the tourism industry amounted to 450 billion tenge (about $1 billion), which is 64 billion tenge (about $142 million) more than in 2022.

"The above dynamics indicate positive trends in the development of the industry. We also achieved a high level of investment in fixed assets in 2023. During this period, the volume of investments in fixed assets amounted to 787 billion tenge (about $1.75 billion), which is 53 percent more than the same period last year. The results of the first quarter of 2024 show positive dynamics, increasing almost 3 times, reaching 177 billion tenge (about $394 million)," Nurtas Karipbayev said.

Meanwhile, in 2023, 9.2 million foreign citizens visited the country, which is 2 times more than in 2022. More than 9.6 million domestic citizens traveled within the country. This figure exceeds 2022 by 1 million people. Placements provided services worth more than 229 billion tenge (about $510 million), which is 1.3 times more than in 2022.

Furthermore, investments in the amount of $4 billion were attracted to the tourism industry of Kazakhstan from 2020 through 2022. In 2022, the volume of investments amounted to 513.3 billion tenge (about $1.07 billion). In addition, over the indicated period, more than 400 tourist facilities were built in the country.
