ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 10. Kazakhstan and the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) have agreed to further expand bilateral investment cooperation, Trend reports.
A corresponding agreement was reached during a meeting between the Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapaev and the Chairman and General Director of JOGMEC Ichiro Takahara.
Investment cooperation will cover the areas of geological exploration, mining and processing of minerals, modernization and technology transfer, mineral value chains, investment opportunities and exchange of professional information.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed issues of cooperation in the field of enhancing exploration and development, efficient use and sustainable development of mineral resources, as well as in areas of common interest for both countries.
JOGMEC combines the functions of the former Japan National Petroleum Corporation, which was responsible for ensuring a stable supply of oil and natural gas, and the former Metal Mining Agency of Japan, which ensured a stable supply of non-ferrous metals and mineral resources.
The organization was established on February 29, 2004 in accordance with the Law of the National Oil, Gas and Metals Corporation of Japan.
