BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 25. Kyrgyzstan plans to achieve berry exports worth $1 billion by 2030, Trend reports via the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
The ministry stated that it will support berry growers in transforming land to create infrastructure, including logistics centers and processing facilities. Additionally, it will provide cluster participants with access to preferential financing and state support.
In this regard, the "Association of Berry Growers of the Kyrgyz Republic" has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the ministry. The parties have agreed on joint efforts to develop the berry industry, including transferring the management of the berry growers’ cluster to the Association and coordinating industry participants.
The Memorandum also outlines the certification of seedlings according to national and international standards, including recommendations from the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).
Special attention is being given to the implementation of international product safety and quality standards such as HACCP, ISO, GlobalG.A.P., BRCGS, and IFS. These standards will help domestic products meet the requirements of global markets and significantly boost their export potential.
According to the country's Statistical Committee, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $12 billion in the first nine months of 2024, a rise of 8.4 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
