BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. The United States imposed a new round of sanctions targeting shipping networks and an airline it says are helping fund Iran’s "malign activities" through illicit oil sales and support for Iran-backed militant groups, the State Department said, Trend reports.

The Departments of State and Treasury announced coordinated designations aimed at disrupting the flow of revenue that Washington says Tehran uses to arm regional proxies and procure weapons that threaten U.S. forces and allies.

The State Department designated 17 entities, individuals and vessels across several countries - including India, Panama and the Seychelles - for their role in facilitating Iran’s petroleum and petroleum products trade.

In parallel, the Treasury Department blacklisted 41 entities, individuals, vessels and aircraft, expanding its campaign against Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports and the financial networks behind them.

"The United States remains committed to disrupting the illicit funding streams that finance all aspects of Iran’s malign activities," the statement said, adding that the measures support National Security Presidential Memorandum 2, which mandates maximum pressure on Tehran.

"As long as Iran devotes revenue to funding attacks against the United States and our allies, supporting terrorism around the world, and pursuing other destabilizing actions, we will use all the tools at our disposal to hold the regime accountable," the department said.
