By Fatih Karimov - Trend: The National Iranian Oil Company has denied reports claiming that a Chinese company had filed a complaint against NIOC.
NIOC managing director Rokneddin Javadi rejected news that a Chinese company has filed a complaint in the London international court for indemnity, Shana news agency reported on October 11.
He did not revealed further details about the Chinese company.
A source had told a website that if the court rules in favor of the Chinese company, NIOC will have to pay at least $1 billion as indemnity to the Chinese side.
In May 2014, Iran terminated China National Petroleum Corporation's (CNPC) contract to develop the Azadegan oilfield after the Chinese energy giant ignored repeated appeals to work on it. The cancellation was preceded by a 90-day warning to CNPC from Iran's Ministry of Oil, and repeated written and verbal warnings.
