In the first six months (March 21-Sept. 22, 2019) of the current Iranian year, Iran's exports via borders of its Razavi Khorasan province decreased by 30 percent in monetary terms compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, an official with Razavi Khorasan Customs Organization Umid Jahankhan said, Trend reports via IRNA.
However, the exports increased by 30 percent in terms of weight, he added.
During the reported period of the current Iranian year, Iran exported 1.78 million tons of goods for $776 million via the customs of Razavi Khorasan province, Jahankhan noted.
Suitcase trade accounted for some $9.1 million of Iran's revenues from exporting non-oil goods via Razavi Khorasan, while border markets of Bajgiran and Dogharoon accounted for $17.7 million, he said.
Main export items were saffron, steel products, building materials, fruits, plastic products and were mainly exported to Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
During the reported six month period, Iran imported 144,000 tons of goods for $173 million via the borders of Razavi Khorasan, Jahankhan said. Compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, the imports increased by 3 percent in terms of weight and by 0.22 percent in monetary terms, he added.
Main imports included cotton, raw silk, potassium hydroxide, legumes and were supplied mostly from Uzbekistan, the UAE, Turkey and China, he said.
The Razavi Khorasan province has five customs, namely Lotfabad, Sarakhs, Bajgiran, Dogharun and Mashhad, as well as Taybad market on the border with Afghanistan and Bajgiran market on the border with Turkmenistan.
