Real Madrid trounce Lyon, Manchester United finally win

Real Madrid were the big winners on Tuesday in the Champions League as they beat Olympique Lyon 4-0, while a 10-man Manchester United finally got their first win of the campaign - winning 2-0 at Otelul Galati.

Real top the group with a maximum nine points, while Lyon and Ajax Amsterdam, who won 2-0 at Dinamo Zagreb, have four points each.

In Romania Wayne Rooney scored twice from the penalty spot in the second half to give United - who had captain Nemanja Vidic sent off with a straight red card - their first victory in Group C.

Benfica Lisbon, who won 2-0 in Basel, but had Emerson sent off late in the second half, are first in the group with seven points, while United have five. Basel are on four points.

Bayern Munich scored after just 99 seconds against Napoli in Group A, but then missed a penalty through Mario Gomez in the second half after Holger Badstuber had scored an own goal for the Serie A side.

The 1-1 draw sees Bayern top the group on seven points, while Napoli are on five. Sergio Aguero scored in the third minute of injury time to give Manchester City a valuable 2-1 victory against Villarreal.

The Premier League club are on four points, while Villarreal have not yet secured a point.

Former champions Inter Milan won their Group B game 1-0 in Lille courtesy of Gianpaolo Pazzini's goal midway through the first half.

In an early match Seydou Doumbia scored twice as CSKA Moscow beat Turkish club Trabzonspor 3-0 in their Group B match.
