Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 April /corr. Trend D.Khatinoglu / The plans on establishment of 6000 new centrifuges in Iran's Natanz Station in the current tense situation, will cause some more new problems. "Despite the demands of the international community and UN Security Council, establishing new centrifuges and accelerating implementation of the nuclear plan will harm the Country from the political point of view," former MP of the Iranian Parliament, Ahmed Shirzad, reported to Trend .
On 8 April, Iran celebrated Day of National Nuclear Techologies. During his speech at Natanz Station, the President of Iran talked about the project on establishment of 6000 new centrifuges. Ahmadinejad said that Iran will not stop uranium enrichment and will not discuss this issue with anyone except IAEA, IRNA reported.
"This step of official Tehran will result in adoption of intense resolutions by the UN Security Council with regards to Iran," expert on nuclear technologies Shirzad said by telephone from Tehran on 11 April.
"Despite that 300 centrifuges (F2) of new generation have already bee established in the station, the intentions of establishing 6000 centrifuges are only plan. Such step of Iran without consent of the IAEA may cause some new problems," Shirzad said.
According to him, two months are required to become convinced about the effectiveness of centrifuges. "Despite that Ahmadinejad highlighted the project on establishment of 6000 new centrifuges, it is unknown how the project will be successful," he said.
Despite the requirements of the UN Security Council, Iran did not stop uranium enrichment, a source at IAEA reported to Trend . In addition, Iran has started producing centrifuges of new generation. Furthermore, Iran is continuing with the construction of a reactor IR-40 and exploitation of the plan on hard water production, the press-service stated via e-mail.
"IAEA does not possess any concrete information about the current nuclear activity of Iran because for a long time the nuclear activity has been carried out in secret," the same source stated.
IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei insistently calls on Iran to carry out necessary measures to confirm the peaceful character of the program.
According to Shirzad, there are few uranium reserves in Iran and it is impossible to generate enriched uranium fuel in the Country. "Uranium enrichment will not lead to Iran's technical development. The nuclear stations of Iran are capable to enrich uranium at only 4%. More than 20% of the projects on enrichment were not tested. All these present obstacles for the development of nuclear industry in Iran," he said.
According to the information provided by IAEA, Iran informed the Agency in 2003 that it plans to establish more than 60,000 centrifuges by the end of 2005, but due to the lack of uranium reserves, it could not realize this project. At the next meeting on 2-6 June, the IAEA Director General will make a report on the number and types of the centrifuges being used currently.
So far, the UN Security Council has adopted three sanctions with regards to Iran's uranium enrichment plans. West accuses Iran of producing nuclear weapons. Tehran confirms that the nuclear program is of peaceful character and denies these accusations.
