Georgia, Tbilisi / corr Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / "Three is a hope for peaceful solution of the Georgian -Abkhazian conflict and this is not a naive idea," Mathew Bryza, the US Assistant Secretary of State, stated in talks with journalists while being back to Tbilisi.
He was on a 3-day visit to Abkhazia, accompanied with the US delegation and the US Ambassador to Georgia John Tefft. During this period, the US delegation toured Sukhumi, Gagra and Gali. Members of the delegation met with Abkhaz leaders.
"It is necessary to hold talks between our friends in Tbilisi and Abkhaz leaders. It is possible to organize these talks, but it all depends whether we can preserve a sense of momentum which currently exists and can encourages the commencement of such talks," Bryza said.
He did not go into details of his meetings with Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh.
