A second all-national census will be conducted in Kazakhstan from Feb. 25 to March 6, a representative at the Communications Department at the State Statistics Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gulnar Malgazhdar, told Trend .

"In early January, the agency began employing managers and employees for our Census Department," Malgazhdar said. These specialists will begin working Feb. 5 and finish the census in late April.

"A population census is very complex," she said. "New questions will be introduced this time around, such as how many Kazakhs are computer literate."

Kazakhstan is interested in developing its citizens, Malgazhdar said. She stressed that the country needs innovation to keep up with the quickly growing economy. The better the education in Kazakhstan, the more competitive people can be on the job market and the higher the standard of living will be, she added.

"Information about our citizens' computer literacy will help us to develop lessons at educational institutions and plan how to invest in the IT and communications sector," Malgazhdar said.
