Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle will open the European House today on Freedom Square in Tbilisi.
The European House has operated in Georgia since 2009. It is an independent organization that serves to promote European culture in Georgia and Georgian culture in Europe.
Former Czech President Vaclav Havel, famous British writer and historian Timothy Garton Ash, former Spanish Foreign Minister Anna Paloacio and others support the European House's opening. Havel was expected to attend the ceremony today, but due to poor health was unable to travel to Tbilisi.
