BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. The number of
salaried workers in Azerbaijan's economy reached 1,758,800 as of
March 1, 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates
that this figure represents an increase of 1,800 people, or 0.1
percent, compared to February 1, 2025. By that date, the number of
salaried workers in the country was 1,757,000.
Of the total salaried workforce, 878,500 work in the public
sector, while 880,300 are employed in the private sector.
In a month-to-month comparison, the public sector saw a decrease
of 1,000 workers, while the private sector experienced an increase
of 2,800.
The breakdown shows that as of February, the public sector had
879,500 salaried employees, while the private sector employed
877,500.
Notably, 18.7 percent of the employed workforce was engaged in
education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, 13.7 percent
in industry, 8.5 percent in healthcare and social services, 6.5
percent in construction, and 6.4 percent in public administration
and defense, including social security. Additionally, 4.2 percent
worked in transport and warehousing, 3.9 percent in professional,
scientific, and technical activities, 2.3 percent in agriculture,
forestry, and fishing, 2.3 percent in financial and insurance
activities, and 14.9 percent in other sectors of the economy.
Additionally, the distribution of salaried workers across
various sectors includes education, trade, transport, industry,
healthcare, construction, and more. The average monthly nominal
wage for salaried workers in January-February increased by 10.2
percent compared to the previous year, reaching 1,043 manat.
Sectors such as mining, finance, insurance, information,
communication, and transport saw notably higher wages.
