After Japan, the UK expressed interest in honey from Georgian Hoby company, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The negotiations are nearing completion and Hoby production is expected to be exported in 2021.
In 2020, the producer processed approximately 10 tons of honey, however, because of an increased demand, the company plans to double the production.
As the founder of Hoby, Milkeil Chigladze mentioned, this year, the company will bottle 20-25 tons of honey.
Hoby is currently located in Imereti, however, the company already purchased a new territory and a new factory will be built in Natakhtari.
Some 250,000 lari ($76,222) is already invested in the project and for expansion, the company will spend an additional 350,000 lari ($106,711).
Hoby is an innovative startup, which provides its customers with natural honey.
Some 10 tons of Georgian honey has been exported to Italy last year.
In December 2016, the European Commission positively assessed Georgia's state control system and included Georgia in the list of third countries from which honey is allowed to be imported into the European Union (EU).
"The admission of Georgian honey to the EU market was preceded by the consistent policy of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the relevant procedures by the National Food Agency for approximation with European legislation," says the agency.
Georgian honey is also exported to Germany and the United States.
