BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. Hormozgan Province has emerged as the leader in Iran's trade turnover from March 20 through August 21, 2024, Trend reports, citing the Iranian Customs Administration.
Hormozgan’s customs offices accounted for a significant portion of the country’s trade over the past five months, handling transactions worth approximately $12.8 billion, which represents 26 percent of Iran’s total trade volume.
According to the report, Tehran and Khuzestan Provinces also played major roles, with their customs offices processing $7 billion and $6.5 billion in trade, respectively, during the same period.
In terms of exports, the customs offices in Bushehr province handled goods worth around $4.8 billion, while Hormozgan's offices managed $4.6 billion and Khuzestan’s offices processed $3 billion worth of exports.
On the import side, Hormozgan again led with $8.1 billion worth of goods, followed by Tehran with $6.3 billion and Khuzestan with $3.6 billion.
Overall, Iran’s total trade turnover for these five months reached $61.3 billion. During this period, Iran exported 60.5 million tons of non-oil products valued at $21.9 billion, reflecting a 10 percent increase in value and a 7 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran also imported 15.7 million tons of non-oil products worth $26.3 billion, marking a 5.53 percent increase in value and a 7.93 percent increase in weight from the previous year.
