The Azerigaz Production Union of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is negotiating with major European companies the drafting of plans to reconstruct and modernize the country's gas distribution network, SOCAR reported.
Particular attention is being paid to the improvement of the Baku gas supply system, as well as the distribution network for suburban villages and settlements and Absheron Peninsula.
The company considers vital the use of modern technologies to reform gas distribution networks.
European standards are seen as a basis for the reconstruction and modernization.
The company is also reviewing the installation of individual gas regulators at the expense of medium-pressure pipelines and replacing terrestrial networks with underground networks using polyethylene pipes.
A flexible centralized control system, modern information technologies, improved emergency dispatch services, a strengthened material base and gas accounting for subscribers are also major principles in the modernization plans.
The project is expected launch after the concept's approval.
