Azerbaijan, Baku, April 2 / Trend H. Valiyev /
By late 2011, Azerbaijani Republican Seismological Centre (RSC) of the National Academy of Sciences will install seismic stations in the Umid, Guneshli and Shah Deniz fields, the academy said.
The installation of seismic stations will allow monitoring ongoing geodynamic processes with greater precision and help to increase hydrocarbon production.
As the RSC told Trend earlier, today work is underway to install two seismic stations in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, after which the number of operating stations in Azerbaijan will hit 30.
The RSC plans to use eight stations in addition by late year.
Last year the center installed seven seismic stations in Gabala, Gobustan, Astara, Zardab Gadebey, as well as in the Khazra (Gusar) and Khinalig (Guba) village.
Main seismic station is located in Baku.
