Azerbaijan, Baku, April 26/Trend, E. Ismailov
BP, the technical operator of the Shah Deniz Field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian, will put the new production well - SDA-06 - into operation in the middle of May, a source with the oil and gas market reported on Tuesday.
The well is being completed, the source said.
"The completion works are underway. The well is expected to become operational on May 13-14," the source noted.
Following the completion of the new well, BP will begin to drill an offshoot of well SDA-03, which was partially closed due to bad technical conditions.

Currently, gas is produced from the field's four wells. Daily gas debits of the Shah Deniz platform oscillate from 15 million to 23 million cubic meters depending on demand in gas. Once the new well is put in operation, daily production may reach to 25 million to 26 million cubic meters.
Peak production is forecasted at over 8.6-9 billion cubic meters.
The Shah Deniz's gas reserves are estimated at 1.2 billion cubic meters.

The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil Hydro - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
