Iran, Senegal to boost oil ties

Iranian Oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Senegalese Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye met in Tehran on January 18, the ISNA News Agency reported on January 19.

During the meeting the two sides discussed possible ways to boost bilateral ties in the oil and gas sector.

"Iran can renew and renovate Senegal's oil facilities," Zanganeh said, adding that

He further expressed hope that the two countries can boost their energy ties in near future.

He went on to note that the two countries' private sector can play an important ole in this regard.

"Senegal can refine Iranian oil in its facilities," he said.

Ndiaye, for his part, said that his country can benefit from Iran's experience in various fields such as refinery construction, natural gas storage, and injecting sulfur to chemical industries.

Senegalese foreign minister is in Tehran for an official visit. He has already met several high-ranking officials including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Iran and Senegal have also agreed to set up a joint economic cooperation commission in the Senegalese capital of Dakar in the near future.
