The Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abdoll Nasser Hemmati spoke about his upcoming visit to Iraq.

In particular, he said that it should be decided on how to continue the financial relations of the two countries, given the increasing exports from Iran to Iraq.

“A significant share of Iraq's debts to Iran have been settled,” Hemmati said in a statement published on his Instagram page, Trend reports.

“Iran's electricity and gas exports will exceed $4 billion this year,” Hemmati noted.

Recently, another meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Iraq was held, with participation of Iraq's Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.

The two sides agreed to complete the implementation of financial and banking agreements.

"The way to follow up and implement the agreements between two countries was reviewed,” Hemmati wrote.

Last month, Hemmati traveled to Iraq to resolve the problem of repayment of Iraq’s electricity and gas bills to Iran.
