Baku, Azerbaijan, April 30

Iran will not allow the US to cut the sales of Iranian oil to zero, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on April 30 at the national festival of Iranian laborers, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) TV channel.
According to Rouhani, the primary goal of US sanctions is to reduce Iran's currency reserves. "A major part of Iran's foreign exchange revenues comes from the sales of oil, gas condensates and oil and gas products," he said.
Rouhani added that sanctions put direct pressure on Iranians, especially on workers and the middle and low-income groups of the population.
The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018. The US exempted eight countries for six months from oil sanctions imposed on Iran. These countries continue to buy oil from Iran. The US announced that it will not extend the exemption period, which ends on May 2, 2019.
