The capacity of the Iranian thermal power stations reaches 65 gigawatt, therefore, Iran ranks ninth in the world, the Iranian Energy Ministry said.
The production capacity of the world's thermal power stations is 6.628 gigawatt, Trend reports referring to the ministry's website.
Presently, the share of thermal power stations among Iran's power plants is 80.8 percent.
Moreover, 14.8 percent account for hydroelectric power stations, 0.9 percent – stations using alternative energy sources, 1.3 percent - nuclear power stations, 0.5 percent – small stations using diesel and 1.8 percent - small stations using gas.
