Azerbaijan raises gas production - Energy Ministry

The volume of gas production in Azerbaijan amounted to 16.4 billion cubic meters from January through May 2020, which is 2 billion cubic meters more compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports on June 24 referring to the country’s Ministry of Energy.

Meanwhile, about 48.8 percent (8 billion cubic meters) of the gas produced accounted for Shah Deniz field, and 32.9 percent (5.4 billion cubic meters) fell on the share of the block of Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) fields. Gas production by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) accounted for nearly 18.3 percent (3 billion cubic meters) of total production.

In the first five months of this year, a part of the recovered gas (34.1 percent) in the volume of 5.6 billion cubic meters was transported for export, which is 13.4 percent more than from January through May 2019.

As reported, 4.3 billion cubic meters (an increase of 21.7 percent year-on-year) were transported to Turkey, of which 1.6 billion cubic meters accounted for TANAP. A little less than a quarter of the exported gas (1.2 billion cubic meters) was transported to Georgia.

Since the commissioning of TANAP, over 5.47 billion cubic meters of gas were transported as of June 1, 2020.

In total, from the moment of commissioning, 295.2 billion cubic meters of gas were collected from the block of Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli and Shah Deniz field, of which 82.6 billion cubic meters were exported.
