BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 9. STAR Refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye has announced a strategic partnership to supply 700,000 tons of jet fuel annually to Istanbul Airport starting in 2025, Trend reports.
The agreement, set to span three years, aims to bolster the aviation sector by ensuring a steady and reliable fuel supply for one of the world’s busiest airports.
"We are proud to announce this strategic collaboration, which reinforces our commitment to supporting the aviation industry," the company stated.
The STAR Refinery, which came online in October 2018, was built with a total investment of $6.3 billion, with $3.3 billion of that amount financed through loans.
STAR is largest refinery in Türkiye, meeting 18 percent of the country’s demand for petroleum products.
After recent repairs, production of the refinery exceeded 13 million tons.
