Azerbaijan has officially received an invitation for the participation at the Managing Board of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI), which will be formed during the 3rd international conference on EITI to be held in Oslo, Norway, in October 2006. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) told Trend that Azerbaijan was proposed to enter the EITI Board as a country which has developed 4 reports on EITI and currently is working over the 5th one.
The Board will include representatives from 5 countries, which applied the EITI, three countries supporting this initiative, 5 NGOs, 5 extractive industry companies and one investment company.
The Board will be established for further coordination of EITI's activities.
