The National Depositary Center (NDC) of Azerbaijan registered 232 repo transactions in the amount of 422.4 million manat ($248.4 million) from January through March 2020, Trend reports citing the NDC’s statistical report.
In the first quarter of 20200, the total number of repo transactions increased by 63 percent compared to same period of 2019, their share in local currency amounted to 226 transactions (97.4 percent of the total amount). Due to the low number of transactions in US dollars, six such transactions were made over the reporting period (1.2 percent), which is two transactions more compared to the same period of 2019.
The total volume of registered repo transactions in local currency increased more than four times and amounted to 417.7 million manat ($245.7 million) and in dollars - 4.7 million manat ($2.7 million). The share of transactions concluded in local currency also increased and amounted to 98.8 percent of the total due to a decrease in the volume of registered transactions in dollars by 2.2 percent.
