ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 2. The collective assets of registered credit institutions in Turkmenistan as of October 1, 2023, surpassed 151.7 billion Turkmen manat ($43.3 billion), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, this is a 9.4 percent growth over the same period in 2022, when the total stood at 149.8 billion Turkmen manat, or $42.7 billion.
Loans provided to credit institutions, corporations, organizations, and residents amounted to 118.9 billion Turkmen manat ($33.9 billion) at the beginning of October 2023, 0.9 percent greater than in the same month in 2022 (117.8 billion Turkmen manat, or $33.62 billion).
Correspondent accounts at the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and reserve account balances declined by 42.3 percent during the given time, reaching 6.4 billion Turkmen manat ($5.02 billion), up from 18.8 billion Turkmen manat or $5.37 billion at the start of October 2022.
In the meantime, according to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar on December 2, 2023, is set at 3.5 manat per USD.
