In the second quarter of 2020, Georgian residents made 36,691 visits abroad, which is 93.5 percent less comparing to the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
According to the report, high decline in outbound tourism is explained by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The majority of visits (88.2 percent) have been made by men, as the majority of visitors account for freight transportation, while the most of truck drivers are men.
According to the data published by Geostat, the age of the majority of visitors (48.4 percent) ranges within 31-50 years in the second quarter of this year.
In the first half of 2019, Georgian residents made 1 million visits abroad, and in the first half of this year - 489,200, which is a decrease of 53.2 percent.
