BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. Experts of the customs services of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan held a meeting during which they discussed issues related to the comparison of customs statistics of mutual trade between both countries, Trend reports.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the protocol signed on July 14, 2022 between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan on the exchange of information on the movement of goods in mutual trade between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, experts analyzed customs statistics data related to mutual trade in goods for 2022. They discussed issues related to the methodology of generating statistics on foreign trade in goods, identifying methodological reasons for discrepancies and further improving the mechanism of cooperation in the field of customs statistics.
At the same time, during the meeting, it was noted that the main reasons for discrepancies in the data on mutual trade between the two countries are the following methodological factors: the inclusion of data from the same transaction in different time periods, the supply of Uzbek or Turkmen goods from the territory of other countries, which leads to their accounting in imports by country of origin, the use of different classification codes of the commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity when declaring goods and different approaches to determining their value during customs declaration.
