ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 18. Kazakhstan expects the completion of three thermal power plant construction projects in 2028, Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev said at a press conference, Trend reports.
"The deadlines are quite tight; we expect the completion of all three projects in 2028," he said.
According to the minister, the construction of three thermal power plants is currently at different stages.
"A feasibility study has already been completed for the thermal power plant in Kokshetau and is undergoing final examinations and acceptance of work. We expect construction work to begin this year," Satkaliyev noted.
As the minister pointed out, the completion of the feasibility study for the thermal power plant in Semey is expected before the end of the year, after which design and construction will begin according to the developed algorithm.
"In Ust-Kamenogorsk, the development of a feasibility study has not yet begun. The development of project documentation is scheduled to begin at the beginning of next year," Satkaliyev added.
On November 13, the energy ministers of Kazakhstan and Russia, Almassadam Satkaliyev and Nikolay Shulginov, signed a memorandum of cooperation on projects for the construction of three thermal power plants in Kazakhstan.
On December 26, 2023, Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Inter RAO-Export signed a cooperation agreement on projects for the construction of three thermal power plants in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey, and Ust-Kamenogorsk.
As a source at Inter RAO previously told Trend, the total capacity of the Kokshetau TPP, Semey TPP, and Ust-Kamenogorsk TPP will be 1 GW.
