Several radio stations and news papers stopped its activity in Kyrgyzstan. As the news agency "24.kg" learnt the BBC radio has joined the ranks of those curtailing their work in Kyrgyzstan.
"BBC is now trying to find out why the programs were laid off," the Corporation's Business Development Manager for Western Asia said.
The Russian BBC service started broadcasting in Kyrgyzstan since 1994, while the Kyrgyz language programs started going on the air in 1996 in the FM diapason.
Some time earlier, one of the Kyrgyz old-timers Radio Pyramid announced about its closing, since January 1, 2009, following the Azattyk radio, which allegedly was refused in the agreement prolongation due to credit delinquency.
Meanwhile, the Vecherniy Bishkek (Evening Bishkek) newspaper closed all its regional offices, leaving reporters jobless. Another newspaper Russkaya Gazeta (Russian Newspaper) has closed earlier this year.
