The JSC Electric Power Stations has stated that no radioactive coal is purchased for the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Bishkek, 24.kg news agency reported.

Earlier, Kyrgyz MP Shirin Aitmatova said 8,000 tons of radioactive coal is likely delivered to the Bishkek TPP.

The company reported that the entire volume of coal delivered to Kyrgyzstan is checked and has the appropriate documents. "Prior to signing contracts to supply coal, the company demands the supplier company to provide information on the technical characteristics of coal, including the level of its radioactivity. Kulan TB, which is the supplier company for the upcoming season, has presented protocol on radiological tests in accordance with the Kazakh state standards," the company reported.

Kyrgyzstan lacks special laboratories to determine the radioactivity level of coal. Theretofore, the examination is carried out in other laboratories. "However, the JSC Electric Power Stations is ready to conduct an independent examination of coal to ensure transparency," he said.

JSC "Electric Power Plants" is the largest producer of the electric and thermal energy in Kyrgyz Republic. The company produces 13-14 billion kWh of electric energy and 2,292, 400 GCal of thermal energy annually which is 99% of all energy production in Kyrgyz Republic.
