Kyrgyzstan's oil product imports from Kazakhstan skyrocket in 5M2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 24. Kyrgyzstan has more than doubled its import of oil products from Kazakhstan during the five months of 2024, Trend reports.

The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan's data shows that from January through May 2024, the country imported 42,953 tons of oil products from Kazakhstan, which is more than 2 times higher than the 18,773 tons imported in the same months of 2023. The value of these imports surged three times, reaching $33.675 million, compared to $10.130 million in January–May 2023.

Kazakhstan was the second-largest supplier of oil products to Kyrgyzstan during this period. Russia remained the top supplier, exporting 270,948 tons valued at $321.441 million.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 322,175 tons of oil products from January through May 2024, with a total value of $371.467 million. The volume rose by 84 percent compared to the same period in 2023 (174,760 tons), and there was an almost three-fold rise in value from $133.892 million in January–May 2023.

Kyrgyzstan foreign trade turnover reached $6.488 billion in the first five months of 2024, which is an 18.6 percent increase compared to January–May 2023.

Exports totaled $1.046 billion, a 4.8 percent rise from January–May 2023. Imports increased by 21.7 percent year-on-year, reaching $5.442 billion.
