DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 5. Tajikistan recorded a decline in export volume from January through May 2023, Trend reports.

According to Tajikistan's statistical agency, the total value of exported goods and products amounted to $560 million, decreasing 34 percent ($288 million) compared to the same period in 2022.

This decline in exports can be primarily attributed to reduced shipments of precious and semi-precious metals, stones, cotton fiber, and textile materials and products. Specifically, the supply of these commodities decreased by 97 percent, 55 percent, and 44 percent respectively.

In addition, the export of fruits, vegetables, and mineral products, such as cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, and coal, also experienced a decrease, albeit to a lesser extent.

Tajikistan's key export partners during this period included Kazakhstan, accounting for 23.6 percent of the total export volume, followed by China (22 percent), Türkiye (13.1 percent), and Russia (12.9 percent).

Tajikistan's overall foreign trade turnover from January to May of this year reached over $2.8 billion, which is an increase of 3.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

During this time, Tajikistan engaged in trade relations with 104 countries worldwide, highlighting the country's efforts to diversify and expand its global trade connections.
