DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 5. Tajikistan's imports of goods reached $2.3 billion from January through May 2023, increasing 21 percent compared to $1.9 billion in the same period of 2022, Trend reports.

According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the country's major imports primarily consisted of mineral products such as petroleum, liquefied gas, coal, and other related items, which accounted for 17 percent of the total imports.

Machinery and equipment followed closely at 14 percent, while non-precious metals and their products accounted for 10 percent of the imports.

The leading countries supplying goods to Tajikistan were Russia - 27.8 percent of the Tajik imports, China - 20.4 percent, and Kazakhstan -15.1 percent.

In overall foreign trade, Tajikistan's turnover from January through May 2023 surpassed $2.8 billion, rising 3.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2022. During this period, Tajikistan engaged in trade with 104 countries worldwide.

Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover surpassed $7.3 billion in 2022, which is an increase of 15 percent compared to 2021.
